Date: Tuesday, September 12th, 2023
Location: Kiel University, Faculty of Engineering, Kaiserstraße 2, 24143 Kiel, Germany

You want to learn more about Nanoscience & Nanotechnology? You want to get into contact with fellow young scientist and share your research with your peers? You want to communicate scientific ideas more effectively and bring your presentation skills to a new level? You want to present your research idea at an international Science Show?

Then join us at the Interactive Tutorial & Science Show Nanoscience & Nanotechnology: From Fabrication to Function on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at Kiel University!

Target audience:

The interactive tutorial & science show Nanoscience & Nanotechnology: From Fabrication to Function aims to bring together young researchers from Nanoscience and Nanotechnology as well as related disciplines. This includes PhD students and PostDocs, who are participating at the Nanoworkshop 2023, from Kiel University and beyond.

Tentative Schedule:

The interactive tutorial & science show Nanoscience & Nanotechnology: From Fabrication to Function will take place on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at Kiel University, Faculty of Engineering, Kaiserstraße 2, 24143 Kiel, Germany. Further details on how to reach the Faculty of Engineering can be found under the following link: Website of Faculty of Engineering

The satellite event will commence with tutorials and the work phase at Kiel University, Faculty of Engineering, Kaiserstraße 2, 24143 Kiel, Germany. You can reach the Faculty of Engineering via bus 11 (direction: Dietrichsdorf), 14 (direction: Laboe) or 60S (direction “Fachhochschule”) and exit at bus stop “HDW” (depending on the chosen connection it will take roughly 10 minutes from Kiel central station bus stop).

As a result of the work phase, each participant gets the chance to present his/her research in the format of a science show, which takes place at the registration event of the Nanoworkshop 2023 at Plön castle, 24306 Plön, Germany.

The transfer between Kiel and Plön takes roughly 30 minutes by train and will cost roughly 20€ for each participant. We will join you for the transfer from Kiel to Plön and do our best that everyone arrives safely and timely.

How can I participate at the satellite event?

If you want to participate in the interactive tutorial & science show Nanoscience & Nanotechnology: From Fabrication to Function, please fill in the form and send it via e-mail with the keyword “Satellite Event” to loc_workshop@tf.uni-kiel.de until
Tuesday, July 18th, 2023.

The form can be downloaded here: SatelliteEvent_ParticipationApplication_Form.docx

Participants will be informed via e-mail regarding their application until Tuesday, August 1st, 2023. In case there are more applications than available capacities, not all applications will be accepted.

What do I need to prepare & bring to the satellite event?

All accepted participants are required to prepare a 15-minute presentation (.ppt, .pptx or .pdf) about one research topic (preferentially a topic that is related to your own research work). These presentations will be collected during the welcome & get together and will be the basis for the joint working phase in the afternoon.

We will provide a blackboard and a beamer (HDMI & VGA) for your presentation. Of course, we will also provide coffee for your brain.

How is the satellite event linked with the Nanoworkshop 2023?

The interactive tutorial & science show Nanoscience & Nanotechnology: From Fabrication to Function is a satellite event to the Nanoworkshop 2023, which takes place at Plön castle, 24306 Plön, Germany.

The participants of the satellite event will contribute with their research pitch to the welcome event of the Nanoworkshop 2023.

If you are interested to also participate in the scientific program of the Nanoworkshop 2023, you have to register separately for both events. Please remember the abstract submission deadlines and registration deadlines for the Nanoworkshop 2023.
